Hi Nate:)
I can't beleive I'm writing this to you! I'm a little bit nervous writing this because it's you! I look up to you jack, and Andrew in every single way. I think your all perfect. At school, if I get the chance, I'll listen to music, and on my phone, I don't have a range of songs, all it is, is fun. My friends say I'm sad and that I need to get a life. But if I have to be honest, your practically my life. All I talk about at school is fun. And how amazing you are. Non of my friends listen but I just love to talk about you and how well youve done in life so far. I am so proud to say that I am a fun-attic. Every time I listen to a song of yours or a video your on I cry because I am proud. I'm 13 and I can't go to one of your concerts till I'm 14 only a year away, but I live in England and you may not come to us for a long while. (by the way, my name is Katie.) anyway, I love you millions, and actually while I'm writing this I'm listening to one of your songs of your album, and I'm crying. Yes. I hope this get 100 votes or more, but I know It won't. I always doubt myself at everything, except for you. Fun. Is the one band who has changed my life around and made it more interesting. I love all three of you. Nate, Jack and Andrew. Good luck in life,
Yours sincerely,
Your biggest fan Katie. Xoxoxox

Nate Ruess,
I wanna say you are my biggest inspiration when it comes to writing music. A few months ago, I heard your unreleased, unfinished song, "Jumping the Shark". I fell in love with it and last night, I decided to write some of my own lyrics to complete the song... I'm really nervous, but I hope you enjoy it! So, here it is! Love you guys, and thanks for putting on an amazing show at Red Rocks in August!

Mom, I know I let you down.
And though these days you say you're happy,
Why's the power off and I'm fucked up and
Mom, I know I made dad proud.
Never say your son's a preacher
When the boy can't fill his sleep

Chorus: oh I said
I started jumping the shark
I started jumping the shark
I started jumping the shark
I want a new life

Mom, I hate to see you cry.
I know I've never been the son
I should've been and I can't take that back but
Mom, I swear we'll be alright.
I swear I'll fix the damage done
You know I'll never let you go

Chorus

Bridge:
one as an adult
So I'm coming home tonight
No matter what the cost.
And if the plane goes down
Or if the crew can't wake me up
Just know that I'm alright
Oh I was not afraid to die.
Or even if there are songs to sing
Or grandchildren you'll never meet,
It might not be that time,
No I was not afraid to die.
'Cause I put more faith in TV shows
Than I ever have some Holy Ghost.
You know you've played a part,
But after everything went dark,
I started, I started...

Chorus

I guess we are who we are.
Headlights shining in the dark night
I drive on.
Maybe we took this too far
I want a new life

Chorus

I want a new life.

That's it! Thanks for reading. Hope you liked it!

Nate Ruess :D
Early this year your song ''We are young'' Came on the radio when I was on my way to school. It got stuck in my head throughout the day and my class mates got extremely annoyed with me for singing it out loud during every lesson we had. I got home that afternoon and downloaded it straight away, ever since then I have been absolutely in love with you and your band :D you might think that I am crazy, well you are right because I am exactly that. I LOVE Some Nights album and as I'm writing this I'm listening to Carry On. I've ordered clothing with your bands lyrics on them! I am 16 and my name is Chloe and I would do ANYTHING for a reply. Wish you luck for your career.

Dear Nate Ruess,
You have made my life adventure into songs. Every song explains my life. Or something that I pursue to others. I would love to meet you and Jack and Andrew. I feel like we act like best friends. An amazing fact I learned about you is that you and the rest of FUN. support gay rights. I have been since I was a little girl because of my brother. Finally, we have the same birthday. I never met anyone who shared this amazing day with me. So it is meant to be. You are my favorite band. I love how you get into your songs.
P.S- My mom invited you and Jack and Andrew to my birthday dinner, which would turn into ours if you came. Please come! It would be the best thing in my life of soon to be 17 years. And I have been through a lot of good and bad,

Dear Nate,
Ever since I heard you the first time with "We Are Young" I loved your voice. Then when you came to Taste of Chicago for the summer of 2013, you stole my heart. I really could not believe that you were right in front of my eyes. You have no idea how much I wanted to run to the stage and give you a huge hug. You completely stole my heart like no other. If you honestly did not have this voice then I would have never fallen in love with you. Honestly it is not even the voice but it just the way you sing each song that made me fall in love. I can feel it when you sing. I know you are only a few years older than me but it will be nice if I could see you again and sing to me. Remember we are still young

Hey. I heard about Rachel and I'm sorry about that. :( idk what happened but I'm not gonna ask because you like to keep your personal life to yourself. I understand. So, we are both pretty lonely for Valentines Day this year. I was thinking about your breakup and my Valentines Day last year. Let me explain. I was only 13 but it was pretty depressing anyway, I liked this boy a whole lot. He had a Robert Plant hairdo (but now he has your hair style for some weird reason, but that's not what I want t discuss for the time being.) He had this girlfriend and they literally rubbed their relationship in my face and bullied me, they did afterwards and before that day, but that day happened to be the most traumatizing. In the end, he was a douche and I decided to move on.

I'm not saying Rachel is a bad person, you just happened to have ended your relationship. Rachel is cool and I like her designs. But some relationships and crushes don't end the way you would like them too. (Like mine. and maybe yours.. I don't know for sure.) I discovered your music thanks to my absolutely wonderful former math tutor Addison Ulmer, who has went to a few of your concerts (including your concert at Ball State last month, I wanted to go but things got complicated in my household. Muncie was a hour away anyway. I can't drive.)

I don't know if you have met Addison, but maybe you have. She's a big fan like me. I know a lot of girls on tumblr who like you, I think it's really funny. I admire your work and everything but I really don't like anybody as a crush anymore. You and all of your bandmates have helped me out. I have been bullied by just more than those two people earlier, everyone at my school hates me. I don't know what I've done and why they hate me,they just do. Ever since I went to Leo (yes, I'm naming the school. I'm a daredevil. >:D) people have almost always been against me.

I love The Beatles too, they're my favorite band besides your band(s). I found out about them before you. I used to sing their songs at recess and people gave me the weirdest looks. The started shoving me and kicking me. (This was sixth grade, that was two years ago.) I met these girls on the first day of school, I was like the totally new girl. I tried so hard to fit in back then.

So for like half of the school year they were really nice, but then the ringleader decided that bullying me was a great idea. So the other joined inane next thing I knew I was kicked out. I joined another group and they did the same thing in seventh grade at the Jr/Sr high school. That place turned all of the nice people into devil spawn. So, that one ringleader from last year had this goal to ruin my life. This is where it get serious... Dun dun dun!

That girl's name was Ally. We were playing flag football in gym class. It was a perfect sunny day. I was on her opposing team. I grabbed her flag and she shoved me to the ground, she starred stepping on me like a bug. Everyone was watching and cheering for her and everything. She stopped after a while and asked if I was okay. I though 'Are you kidding me ' Most of the class beleived I was a liar besides my two best friends, Connor and Halie. I could barely walk for the next two days.

A few months later it got worse, but instead of physical bullying they called me names, they called me a 'Lying bitch' etc... The majority of the class told me to cut myself (class of 2017, the year I am becoming a senior in high school.) I was so desparate to fit in, so I did. I got pulled put of school and in the homebound program.

That's when I met Addison, one day she got out the Some Nights album and we listened to the whole thing. I was a major classic rock junkie (still am, but I have a interest for alt/indie rock too now, thanks to you.) at the time and I found you music to be the best modern stuff I ever listened to. I went on Iheartradio and I listened to all of Aim and Ignite by the beginning of June. Let me just say, I was hooked.

For the summer break, I stopped cutting and started to think about life more. Almost all of my recovery reversed when I came back to school. The school said they were tired of me in the homebound program. Addison went off to start her freshman year at Ball State, I passed pre-algebra with a C. The bullying from Ally stopped, she didn't notice me. But they bullying went from her to somebody else, Julia.

Julia is more cold hearted than Ally ever could be, a hundred times more. Julia makes Ally look like a welcoming friend. She was suspended for the seventh grade year due to bullying, sadly they let her back in. My cutting came back and I was pulled out of school in October. My friends were devastated. I went on Facebook to keep in touch. But after Julia suddenly came back to trouble me, I didn't.

She literally bragged about getting a referall and I told her the right thing about it (meaning 'good luck with that') she called me a bitch and told me to 'fuck off' and I was miserable so I ratted out on her, when it was the other way around. I told the school everything and printed out the papers. I stopped going on Facebook, you were right about the whole websites and social media. You're a smart man, Nate.

I stopped cutting myself because I did the butterfly project, I wrote your name on my arm for some reason. That method was very effective. Thanks.

I learned that It Gets Better (see what I did there?) I am so proud of all of you! You won 2 Grammys!

Thank you so much and sorry again about your breakup, this letter got WAY off topic. Oops. I wanted you to know you're not alone this Valentines Day and I wanted to share my story. You're really a lifesaver.

Love (as a fan.), Grayson

Nate,
I am currently working through college, and have been given the opportunity to write an expository essay for my English Composition course. As I search through all of these seemingly fair topics, things that could potentially turn out well, I feel that none of them truly seemed like something I would enjoy knowing more about. However, I thought in terms of music, and then realized how I would thoroughly enjoy learning more about you, Jack, and Andrew! If you happen to get this, could you answer me some questions that I could use in my essay (and would just love to know anyways!) Some of my questions are:
*What was your inspiration for some of the songs on your guys' album "Some Nights" (Particularly "Some Nights," "We Are Young," and "Carry On" [which, by the way, has become my all-time favorite song])?
*What are some of the things you, Jack, and Andrew do in a regular day?
*Are you currently working on anything for a new album, and to press forward, what are some future plans of Fun.?
*Which song(s) of your guys' is personally your favorite to perform and/or listen to?
*(From a friend) What kind of hair product do you use?
*What were your guys' thoughts of performing in Idaho at the Botanical Gardens?
If there is anything else you could include that would be interesting or "fun" to add, that would be fantastic! Thank you for all of your hard work, and for creating some of the best music of which has both brought a smile to my face, and a tear to my eye.
Sincerely,
Brett Bittinger
