Hi! I'm a huge fan, from Leeds UK i'm coming to your concert on April 16th! I'm so excited i'm one of your biggest fans and i love you so much!!!!! i'm 15 and can't wait to see you!!!! I love you so so much!!! I've been a die hard fan for over a year which isn't long but i am so so excited to see you LOT'S OF LOVE ALWAYS!!!!!!!
I am a die hard FUN. fan. I know every song and i dont know what i would do if fun. ever broke up. I would probably die. You guys are so perfect. Before i heard the song At Least Im Not As Sad when i was 8, i wasnt used to listening to indie pop. Just rap all because of my older sister and her gangster like friends. So when i went to florida in the summer of 2012, i saw you guys on tv for the first time ever. It was basically the first time ive actually listened to one of your full songs. I was like "wow!! This is amazing!! Im going to go home and learn We Are Young!!" But it was a 28 straight hour drive and i was to exausted to do anything. But the thing that motivated me to learn your song was my mom. She also loved We Are Young because she heard it at work too many times. So she desided to introduce it to me a bit more. When i learned We Are Young, a week later Some Nights came on the radio. I didnt believe it was fun. until i looked it up on youtube a few weeks later. Then i found Carry On after i had learned We Are Young and parshly some of Some Nights. I learned Some Nights first then fell in love with Carry On. I went from there and did some research on the band. I found out about Steel Train and The Format and became more into music. All because of fun. i am not a cold hearted girl i would have been if i kept listening to the trashy music i was stuck on at a younger age. I am a kind sweet hearted girl (tons of people tell me ive changed alot in the past 3 years) who absolutely adores fun. The Format, and Steel Train. So thank you Nate Dawg, Jackio, and Dost Man!! You guys are the bomb!! And remember, no matter what the age is, We Are Young!! :)
Dear Nate,
I don't even know where to begin. I have been looking all over for a mailing address so I can send you a personal, hand-written letter to really tell you how much you and your music mean to me and how much your passion for music is such an inspiration to me! After a few hours of searching, I found this site and decided it was close enough. I hope and pray that this 'letter' reaches you.
First off I would like to thank you! You're music is so good! It really helps me get through those rough days. When I heard the song you did with P!nk, "Just give me a reason", I fell in love. When I first heard your song, "Carry On" I immediately downloaded it and showed all my friends. Some of your other songs I really enjoy are, "Some Nights", "It Get's Better", "Be Calm", "Why Am I The One" and many others. I can never get enough of your songs. You are so talented and I thank God for giving you such talent. I know it helps more than just me get through some days.
I truly look up to you, Nate. You are by far one of my favorite artists. I have such a passion for music and hope that one day I will be able to make it somewhere in the music business. I'm taking voice lessons right now and hope to, someday, have the confidence that you do. I read somewhere that you didn't take voice lessons, but you would just go in your car, turn on a song that was hard to mimic, blast it and just sing your heart out trying as hard as you can to mimic that song. I took that as a challenge and I do the same thing. I go in my car, turn on your songs and try to mimic them. Believe it or not, it's helped!
There are many things in this life I want to accomplish but the number one thing on my list is to make name for myself. I asked myself what is the thing I have passion for the most and that thing is music. I'm making my passion for music more than just a dream. I'm going to do something about it. I'm starting of by writing to my favorite artists and the people I look up to the most. I was hoping to get advice back or some kind of inspiration and motivation from some of the greatest people I know of. You are at the top of my list, Nate and I'm hoping to hear from you soon!
I just bought tickets to your concert here in SLC, Augest 23, 2013 with Tegan and Sara! I can't wait to go! Just listening to your music inspires me and I can't wait to be inspired even more than what you already have.
Good luck with everything, Nate! Tell the rest of the FUN. band I say hi and I love them too!! It was an honor just to be able to write to you. I pray for you and passionate musicians everywhere. Thank you for all you do!!
Sincerely,
Lara Kay Birch
Hi Nate,
my name is Andrea and I'm a very fan of Fun.
Lately, I'm in love with a girl, Julia, and she loves Fun and and especially she loves you. You're her idol and I'd like if you, with your band, come here in L'Aquila, Italy to make her a surprise... I would be grateful if this happens. Thank you beforehand and I hope that you read this letter... Goodbye and good luck! :)
It could take hours to think of the right things to say in this letter, but first I want to sincerely thank you for the music you and your friends have made together. I spent last night listening to one of your albums and laughed almost the entire time because of the lyrics and your magical voice. Beyond that I almost felt like I fell in love with you while you were singing, even though I'm straight and in love with a girl. I encourage you from the core of my being to continue singing and performing, you will forever be my favorite singer and group.
Dear fun. and Nate,
I'm just going to start by saying that I love you all. I first heard "All the Pretty Girls" in 2010, and I got OBSESSED. when Some Nights came out, other people started liking you guys too and I had someone to fangirl with, but before that it was torture to talk about how much I loved you to people who had NEVER heard of you...last year I had a really difficult time and I had a lot of things going on but you guys pulled me out of a dark place with your music. Granted, this sounds super cheesy, but it's true. I listened to your songs whenever I was sad, and it became a habit. I am literally known by people at my school as "the girl who loves fun."
I just heard Headlights, and when I heard the "Jumping the Shark" lyrics, I about died. Your music makes me so happy, and I just wanted to say thank you for that. I love you all!!!
Your Biggest Fan,
Ella
Nate,
I don't know if you actually read these even if they do get sent. All I can do is hope.
I've been dating a a girl for three years, and it's been a ride. From utter disapproval and even hatred I faced from both of our parents for the first year and a half, to spending seven tenths of our relationship at a very long distance, I've seen a lot. I won't go into details for the sake of keeping it under the length of a small book or large short story. I've saved up all I could afford to visit her each time that I have, and even moved to her hometown for a while, and the time I've had with her has been worth infinitely more than any monetary cost.
I wanted to thank you for your music and the emotions it brings back to me in an otherwise hollow day. You have quite the voice and, while I don't think you needed auto tune and had good faith you could have hit all of those notes just fine on your own in Some Nights, it's not like I can change it. Besides, it's not really about how I want to hear it, but how you wanted it to sound. You're the millionaire artist, not me.
The main reason I wrote; though, was because I think we have similar definitions of Love, and the weight that word carries, along with other words and phrases such as "I'm yours," "I need you every day," and "I'll always love you." I swear she's she's moving on though, and it breaks me daily. I don't know what I expected by writing this, but I figure that if anyone knows what love and heartbreak really are, it's you. I hear it all so vividly in your music so, if anything, thanks for reading. If there's any chance I could have a chat with you, maybe for peace of mind, or anything of the sort, I believe my email is attached.
Many thanks for daring to read this to the finish,
Brendan West, Age 22
Nate, I am one voice in a million. Chances are I won't be heard, but I am willing to give it a shot.
I know you probably get tired of this stuff... mail from fans, squealing teenagers... I get it. But I still feel that you may be interested in my story.
I had a dream where a man I'd never seen walked into the studio where I take dance lessons, and something told me there was something significant about him. I later watched the music video for carry on and was like "Oh my God, that singer is the guy from my dream!" Then of course I had to go learn everything I can about you and your band.
Since then, you and the rest of fun. have awoken something in me that has brought upon this dream of being a professional singer. I am kind of grasping at straws here and making a request that I understand is ridiculous, but could you help me in some way? I have no idea who and how to contact to record and produce songs, or how I am supposed to make it big. I have several songs I've written and can sing (one of which needs a male voice, just saying :D) but where do I go from now. Believe it or not, I am not stupid, just determined and willing to try anything, so... I'd be honored if you would make some attempt to help a rising star. My email is mollyryanml@gmail.com.
PS-I really appreciate the Ally Coalition. If I ever make it as a pop artist, my main goal will be to fight for human rights along side you and all the others associated with the cause.
Hey Nate :)
I am a very big fan of you. I discovered Fun. before it was famous and loved it! I listen to your songs every day and I know all lyrics. Youre my male idol! I also really like Andrew, Jack and Rachel ❤ My favourite songs are "We are young, Carry on, All Allone, Why Am I the One, Walking the Dog, the Gambler, One Foot.. But I adore all songs, because your voice is so special and the lyrics so amazing! I bought Tickets for your concert in Hamburg, Germany (I live there :) ) But the day the concert was you were ill, which made me really sad. I hoped so badly to see you, hear your voice live and i wished so much I could have a photo with you and an autograph from you all! Well I still hope that. When your new album is out I really hope youre in Hamburg so I can see you! Its my biggest desire and it would be so cool! I am not sure if you really get this letter but I really hope it! I would be freakin' out if you would give a concert here! *_*
Yours faithfully,
Isabell Hess
