Nate,
My nameis Rachel. I'm 13 years old and I've gone through some pretty hard times. I've gone through depression and many things that made depression get worse. When I ears the song "Carry On", I had been thinking some dark thoughts. And hen I said that is just have to Carry On. You inspired me to keep going and I am eternally grateful. I wanted to say thanks a million, because you and your band members helped me in more ways than I thought possible. I am even singing Carry On for the talent show! Thanks so much for saving my life. (Not being dramatic!)
Lots of Love,
rachel.ruess1 (the girl who's gonna carry on)

You are a beautiful person, with a beautiful soul.

Dear Nate,
As i write this letter, i must tell my self to be calm and take my time. Snails see the beauty in everything, right? So even if this letter takes years to write, I won't give it up and throw my hands in the air. Some Nights i just wish i was an ocean so that i could come see you in concerts around the world! i would love nothing more in the world then to meet you in the middle, maybe make up a dance? We can dance to mexican music under the stars. But first i have to walk my dog. Because if you tie the rope and leave him hanging, my dog will become a glutton of sympathy. Sorry we just kinda took this hour to talk about me. At least we didn't get into my hatred of corporate magazines. Next time we can just tap the break, role down the window and talk about you.
Until then, your inspired fan
-Amanda

Darlingest Nate,
Well, I guess I'm like all the rest saying that this will probably get lost, but I'm going for it anyways.
I just want to thank you. Thank you so much for your persistence in the music industry so that you were finally given that shot you've been waiting for. I understand that it's been a freakishly long struggle, and I have to admit that I'm damn proud of you, kid. I've got to say, though, "Next Red Light" from your old band This Past Year is far too underrated. Bring a bit more of that rock that used to light you up, show the world something new. We're getting too used to that predictability of too many people in a world too deprived of true talent to realize it. Your talent in writing has so much power, sometimes I just read lyrics to songs by The Format and feel at once a peace I haven't felt since visors went out of style.
And I'm pretty much insane about your voice and vocal range and all. My family calls the squeals I get whenever I hear it the "Nate Effect," and never has a thing been truer. Except maybe that drinking expired milk kind of sucks, there's no avoiding that.
The point is, thank you so much for all of the work you've put into your career; it's really paying off I trust. I hope that you continue to do so for the sake of my sanity, if not your own. A thousand mirrors wouldn't be able to show you all that you are.
Keep on trucking

Dear nate ruess,
Let me start by saying I love you so much and you are so hot and adorable. Fun. Is my favorite band and If there's one thing in the world I want it's to meet you. I went to your concert at Hudson River park on july 23, 2013 and was right in front. I stood through the opening act, tegan and Sara, and right before you came out I fainted from the heat. I was taken in the back and after I felt better I was sent all the way to the back. I was really upset but when you came out you were still amazing even though I wasn't up front. I would do anything to go back to that day and stop myself from fainting but I can't. I love you so much and wish I could have that opportunity again. Please read this and write back I love you so much.

How can I actually sum up all of my thoughts on you... I love you so much! I just saw you at ACL and you're the best I've seen yet! I'm not sure if you remember, but you said "We're just here to open for Vampire Weekend." and in response, I screamed "No, Vampire Weekend is just here to close for you!" and you looked in my direction and smiled. I look up to you because I would love to become a singer/songwriter even half as talented as you. Your story is amazing and so are you. I loved your performance and I think you're better live. Thanks so much for being an inspiration!

Nate Ruess,
You'll probably never read this, but if you do that would make my life. I'm one of those crazy fun.atics that posts pictures of fun. daily. I only use Instagram, no other social media, because I agree with you on the whole social media thing. Personally, I only have it to follow Jack, Andrew, Nattie, Will, Rachel, Rick, and Emily.
My life long dream is to sit down with you and the band and have a conversation and play video games. Other people just want to marry you, but I think it would be fun to get to know you guys better.
The albums "Some Nights" and "Aim and Ignite" are perfection. I can't think of any other albums I'd rather listen too. I like them because I can connect in a lot of ways. You truly are a talented person.
I've noticed that fun. has become insanely popular lately. It's great for you guys, but remember that all of that can easily disappear if you loose sight of what led you to sing in the first place.
If you do actually read this, I'd like you to know that I am thankful for your music because it has been there for me when no one else was. That's why I fell in love with it in the first place. I love the irony too. It's ironic how some of your saddest songs don't sound sad at all, but if you really look at the lyrics, it's quite heartbreaking.
Another thing I love about fun. is that you guys are more than just a band. I've talked to a few people who met you, and they say you guys are super funny and polite.
Maybe one day we'll meet.
Sincerely,
-just another one of your biggest fans, Moira.
