Hi dave im a 34 year old massive fan, i was introduced to nirvana and scream around 92 the energy power and intergration of lead drums and bass still puts me on edge of my seat.

growing up as an adalescent i fell in with thr wrong crowd after losing ,my best friend my mam.

depressed and empty i met the love of my life and we has 5 years together. we watched a metiot shower with everlong playing. i knew then time stood still and she was everything.

one day 5 years into the relationship i went into a very dark place, i somehow managed to get loads of cocaine then videocallled her and discraced myself.

i'm in a much better place now and often think about her.

if you could ever dedicate the song everlong to cookie from kevin it would be life changing.

ps your funeral speech for Lemmy was beatiful and so kind.

keep making music from a fan spanning back to subpop to present

Hey Foo's, my name is Ginny Cross, I'm 12 and live in England. I have been a huge fan of you since I was old enough to appreciate music, and Iv'e been listening since i was born. The first song my dad sang to me was actually Everlong, it's kinda a thing where people in our family have a song, i dunno. He specifically said, "Hello, Iv'e waited here for you." which iv'e always thought was pretty sweet. You guys inspired me to play guitar, and at one point i just had no aspiration to play at all, but then i started learning songs that i actually wanted to play, and now i won't stop playing, my mum actually has to come in my room to get me to shut up, at 10pm. The neighbours must hate me! But yeah, you guys have just been a huge obsession of mine for as long as i can remember. I honestly find it hard finding people who haven't heard of you, well maybe not people of my age, they're all 'uncultured'. As I'm writing this i'm actually listening to 'I am a river'. I have a huge sticker silhouette of you guys behind me, and a picture of loads of songs. I know i have said this about a million times, but you all just really inspire me in so many different ways, keep rockin', and don't stop, not even if you brake your leg again!!

To Dave, if somebody asked me what my favorite Foo's song was, i couldn't answer. The amount of brilliant songs you guys have made, it's impossible to favour just one! Though i could always name a favorite band, 'Foo Fighters', ring a bell? Amongst my favorites, I would have to say Nirvana, I honestly think you and Taylor are some of the best drummers in the world! I'm actually finishing a drawing of Kurt Cobain, not the best i must admit, but not terrible. I have been to, two of you concerts, one at Milton Keynes Bowl, and Wembley. Thanks for being such an awesome dude, with your awesome band, never stop making music!!

Mr Grohl, I am a 45 year old man who has been listening to your music since “the colour and the shape”. The greatest album in my opinion. I don’t know how to put into words how much your music has meant to me. I have to be honest that when you went and made your own album after nirvana, I didn’t think it would amount to much. You proved me wrong. The first song I heard was monkey wrench. I’ve been hooked since. You’re a truly talented singer, songwriter, and musician. Thank you for giving us your gift to hear and enjoy. You are a true badass.

Dear David,
My name is Daniel Steinkoler. I reside in Washington DC with my wife and 10 year old son and am the owner of small Residential Construction Company. We are currently working on fabricating two Tree Houses for our Regional "Make A Wish Foundation" for two Children ages 5 and 9, both survivors of Childhood Cancer. Over the past year we have seen 7 of our employees as well as family members, now too many to count come down and/or pass from Covid or Covid related illness. My mother and sister both of whom live in New York have fortunately survived their battle and are doing much better. I write to you today because of how moved I was after coming across what I can only describe as a life impacting video aired on the BBC network of numerous Artists singing versus of "Times Like These". Watching the video seemed to have grounded me further in my belief that we all must help one another and give back. There could not be a more appropriate Anthem that tells a story of the past year in an inspiring call to action. It is not only the song but the collaboration of individuals what so moved me. I must have watched the video 15 times last night and am still thinking about it this morning. Never before in my lifetime has there been a more appropriate time to put aside our differences to make a difference. Our work with Make A Wish" is one of those differences. I am sure you are incredibly busy with Family Life, Career and more but I would like to ask if there was a way for you to dedicate a version of the song to Kali and Adam via you tube that we could play for them and their families. Thank you so much for doing what you do and inspiring others to "Make a Difference".

With much respect and admiration

Daniel Steinkoler

Dear Mr Grohl, Mr Smear & co.
Since I was a young teenager, I've listened to your music. I raised a deaf daughter and music by Nirvana and Foo Fighters is great because she can feel the beat.
Personally, I've been battling a pig of an illness since age 4. It got worse in my late teens to late 30's. "Learn to Fly" was a big favourite but right now it's "Sky's a Neighbourhood". Thank you all for your music. You're full on epic class. I'm from Glastonbury (born and bred) and we missed you!! Stay awesome.
Zoë Legg aged 45 and three quarters.
PS. Violet's amazing, and soooooo good at singing. Harper could be a drummer??

Hey, Foos, ya'll are the bees tits. Have loved your music since the beginning. Over the years, I've found your music to be multi-faceted- motivating, contemplative, and of course bad-ass. But mostly, meaningful, and for that a heartfelt "Thank You".
I've never messaged a band or celebs before, but I thought I might offer a nostalgiac perspective for Mr. Grohl. My apologies ahead of time for the lengthy message, and if I mis-remembered anything.
Like yourself, I grew up in North Springfield. I was a year older than you and we went to North Springfield Elem., Holmes Intermediate, and TJ High. I can only recall one interaction we had. Walking home from school with some other kids in the 6th grade, you and I were talking about something and I think you were running for your class president or something. You showed me your "unofficial" campaign slogan written out: "Dave Grohl will fill your hole". So good!
I took English from your mother in High School. I was insufferably shy and a terrible student, but she introduced us to "Our Town" and "The Grapes of Wrath". For the latter, instead of this being some boring old story, she taught me to look for the artistic elements in literature and the writer's perspective. So, if you could thank her for me.....? She was a great teacher and one of only a few I remember.
The other memory I had of you was the talent show your band was in. Your mother was one of the judges too..I think. That night was incredible and I was amazed that my peers were so talented. I knew (from afar) most of who performed but had no idea of their creative pursuits. That evening was something I'll never forget. I loved rock music and never imagined I could ever do that. And to see people my age performing, and rather well on top of it, was a strange mixture of humility and motivation. I recall a conversation someone had the next day saying, "Did you see Dave Grohl broke a string on his guitar. How embarrasing". In a rare moment of assertiveness I responded, "At least he was up there. Didn't see you on the stage." Can you imagine that? Someone sticking up for Dave Grohl, (kinda), 'cause a guitar string broke back in 1984.....fucking nuts! Not that it matters, but I don't know if you broke a string or not. But seriously, it sounds like you boys have a little something there and if you stick with it, well...who knows!
I was an instant fan of Nirvana when I heard it and when I saw you on the SLTS video, I told a few folks of the talent show. And then again when "Big Me" was a radio hit. Naturally, no one believed me!!
So anyway, I wrote a song commemorating that night and thought you might like the perspective of someone in the audience. Now, I'm just a hack amateur guitar player and my singing is worse. One section is out of tune, and recording continuity is crud. (Gee, can't wait to hear it!). But, I think it's kinda funny and hopefully you'll get a chuckle. I sent a Soundcloud link and the lyrics are with the song, but here are the lyrics anyway. Thanks again for a lifetime of great music and art- fellow Beaver, Roadrunner, and Colonial, Bryan Kidd.

Dear Dave,
My name is Tom, and I'm from Amsterdam, The Netherlands. It has taken me a couple of years to formulate how to say what I'm about to say.
Let's start with the obvious: your music. I'm not talking just Foos or Nirvana - I'm really talking about all of it, I mean, one can never hear everything you ever did, but the things you did with Them Crooked Vultures, QOTSA, Tenacious D and even Slash, to name a few, are so so so good! People call you 'the nicest man in Rock' n Roll' and I think that's something to be proud of! What I really like about you too (and this goes for your bandmates too!) is you guys are ao down to earth. The Foos is a big fucking deal and would headline any festival or event, but you don't act live a bunch of diva's you know. I've been to concerts and watched others, and what I see is a couple of friends, genuinely having a blast, every time! I'm sure you all make a healhy living and could do without touring for years, but you do it anyway. And that tells me you do it because you guys love it. And after all, isn't that the only reason why people play music? If you're able to make a living out of it, that's cool, but that should never be the incentive to make music. I think you might agree. Other things you have done fill my heart with joy! Letting kids on stage to jam with you, going to fans garages to play for them, and let's not forget what you did for the miners, and the good people of Cesena, the drumbattle with Nandi, and even kicking some asshole out of you show. There also a clip online of you, standing in the crowd at a Soundgarden concert, rocking it out. I love that, you probably know those guys, right? You fellow Seattle partners in crime! And anyway, you're Dave Grohl, you must have been able to get backstage and whatnot, but instead you get in the crowd together with all the other fans. I really like that, also because SG was my favorite band and will always will be. Sorry Dave ;) I'm sure there are no hard feelings tbere!
I want to thank you, for enriching my live so much, I could go on for hours about what I like about you, but its' pratically everything! I also hope to see you drumming in your daughters band someday, that would be sic! A lot of people say your music saved them, and I have to same feeling, at least it helped me through some really dark times, when I was at the end of my wits. I think that as a musician, that is the highest achievable, to save many kids from maybe doing something stupid, because of your music!
I need to talk about Nirvana a little bit, I was too young to really experience the time when you became the biggest band in the world, but my sister did, and she played the records sooo much, so yeah I heard them all, and eventhough I didn't know English at the time, I liked it. And it made me addicted to Grunge, and I still am! Hence Soundgarden. But there is something else. When I was a little older, your relentless drumming in Nirvana inspired me to pick up the sticks too! I think you should know that. Also, you're my idol in drumming, I would rank you even above Bonzo. There I said it!

Dave, you are a shining example of what a good person is. Not just as a musician, but as a human being. And evertbody should aspire to be like you. Luckilly you have millions of fans, and getting more each day I'm sure. So keep doing what you're doing, because you're doing it right! And once again, thanks, for everything!

Much love from Amsterdam,

Tom
