Dear Mr. Meloy,
For quite some time now, I have been listening to your music. When your record, The King is Dead, was released, I nearly played it every day. One of the best things that I like about your music is that you never fall into a single genre. From progressive rock, to simpler, acoustic pieces, I've heard many aspects of my favorite music filter through your writing. The first time I heard Hazards of Love, I instantly thought of the era in music that Jethro Tull, Yes, and bands of the like reigned. Much of the influence found in my music can be attributed to the Decemberists, as it is primarily acoustic based. I had been looking for what kind of sound my writing would fall into, and you and your band helped me find it. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.
Sincerely,
Luke Garrett
