Dear Beyonce,
I am writing this letter to let you know how much you have inspired my son who is 25 and lives in NY. He just called me from his job. He works at OC in Soho and was working there with you for about an hour. He said you were fantastic and he called me to say that he thought you were pretty happy with his service. Unfortunately when you left his boss reamed him out. He said he hovered over you too much and that he did not give you enough space. I felt really bad because he thought he did a good job helping you, your assistant and your daughter. I only wish he would have as much confidence in himself as I have in him. He now says he wants to quit his job because his boss doesn't think he can do anything right.
I know you are a busy person but honestly my only wish would be that he could find a job where he would be appreciated and where he would feel good about himself. He has been through so much in the the last year and I too, as a mother, who just recently recovered from breast surgery, would really appreciate it if you could find a minute or 2 to talk to him.
He really thinks the world of you and any advice coming from you, I know, would mean a great deal to him. You probably don't remember him but his name is Joseph (Joey) and he helped you today at the OV store in Soho today.
Oh by the way, I am 56 years old and I too love your music. I saw you at Foxwoods several years ago and thought you were amazing.
All the best and have a very Merry Christmas!

Dear Beyonce,
You are extremely talented there is no doubt, and I have all your albums and have enjoyed them..especially the I am.. part of I am.. Sasha Fierce. I have also seen you live and think you are an amazing performer and I admire you for showing more of who you really are in your documentary "Life is but a dream".
I appreciate all the work you do to empower women...BUT...I'm not sure if you're going about it the right way.
I don't want to be negative but I have to admit recently I am a bit disappointed with the message you send out to your fans. You have said in interviews how you are very different to the "Sasha Fierce" that comes out when you perform. So basically Sasha Fierce is fake and just to feed your ego? I think you should show more of you than your alter ego. You have the potential to be such an amazing role model for women and to me, but I think you over sexualise everything to the extent of it seeming more of an entertainment to men and affirming this is how we should behave to keep men happy. Is it not more about being happy within oneself instead of trying to impress your man? A lot of your songs seem to be empowering to women but when I reflect upon them I think the opposite. For example, in "single ladies", how is saying to men 'if you like it then you should have put a ring on it' a good message? Basically your saying if you like the way it looks you have to pay for it, a bit materialistic. And that if a woman is looking good they deserve to be proposed to...err..?? Surely these days women's aspirations go beyond getting married.
I think your song flawless is great, but what do you mean by BOW DOWN BITCHES? I think you owe it to your fans to treat them as your equals and I'm not so sure how that sort of line shows it. Then you contradict yourself by putting in lines from the feminist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie... I just don't think your being clear. On your website you have a BEYHIVE for your fans, I'm not sure i understand why you use the metaphor of your fans being bees...insects...other than because BEY is in your name. Clever but how is this benefiting your fans? seems like it is just to further your own ego to see the beys in your hive grow....Is this how you think of your fans? Insects that should bow down to your highness. You seem to care more about the control you have over your fan base than helping your fans GROW.
A lot of your videos in your new album are extremely sexual, including lyrics etc. licking your lips in "blow" and playing a stripper in "partition" while jay sits back smokes a cigar and watches. Maybe these are part of your fantasies and your playing them out and its really all about you...but please remember your influencing millions of young girls around the world. How about the girls who have low self esteem? Your message is to be fierce and to show everyone the hot booty you have, confidence is great but personally my confidence doesn't come from my looks or my booty. You can't play the part of being such a nice person who helps the world at the same time as promoting women to sell their bodies and sexuality. Please. Try to help woman be recognized for more than that... Your talent is phenomenal but your image and sexuality is somewhat distracting from it. Help girls feel empowered without using their image please. You have the influence over masses, so instead of portraying this FLAWLESS, too perfect unrealistic figure rubbing sexuality in everyone's faces why not be REAL. I know you attempt this in songs like 'pretty hurts' in the line where you say 'mamma said, your a pretty girl, what's inside, it doesn't matter!' I was touched but you seem to almost promote this idea with your image so I'm a bit confused! Please give me a bit more confidence that you are helping us women not holding us back! Humanize rather than materialize..I'm not saying that everything thing you do is bad, not at all, its just I think the work where you are vulnerable and show your flaws is much more beautiful than the sex and perfect image..
